This course is suitable for engineers working on trucks with voltages of 120 V DC or 50 V AC or more.

The learner will be competent in the following:

  • Describing safe working practices as outlined within the electricity at work regulations 1989
  • Describing the hazards applicable to high voltage equipment
  • Identifying hazards and complete a risk assessment
  • Explaining what personal protective equipment is required
  • Explaining why insulated tooling is recommended and test leads and probes are incompliance to HSE GS38
  • Describing safe Isolation and stored energy
  • Explaining procedures for working on, or near live equipment
  • Describing the testing methods prior reintroduction into service
  • Undertaking accurate documentation, reporting and record keeping
  • Understanding UKMHA Guidance Note 70

Knowledge assessment to be completed
Certificate of competence to be issued
