This important course explores a variety of Health and Safety issues in the fork truck working environment. Whilst essential for service engineers, it is a valuable source of information and understanding for anyone who works near forklift trucks.
The learner will gain a thorough understanding of and be able to:

- Describe the importance of complying with the relevant health and safety regulations and procedures for their role as a lift truck engineer.
- Be aware of and comply with regulations in the following:
- Health and Safety, legislation and enforcement
- Accidents and ill health reporting
- First Aid
- Electricity
- Work Equipment, mobile equipment and movement of people
- COSHH, Manual Handling, Noise, Working at height
- Maintenance
- Portable tools (PAT testing)
- RIDDOR
- Fire & Explosion – (LPG)
- Risk Assessments
- Demonstrate how to carry out a basic Risk Assessment and to create a safe working area
- Describe and demonstrate safe techniques for jacking and blocking
- Describe and demonstrate securing mast and carriage assemblies
- Describe how to isolate trucks safely prior commencing any work activities
