This important course explores a variety of Health and Safety issues in the fork truck working environment. Whilst essential for service engineers, it is a valuable source of information and understanding for anyone who works near forklift trucks.

The learner will gain a thorough understanding of and be able to:

    • Describe the importance of complying with the relevant health and safety regulations and procedures for their role as a lift truck engineer.
    • Be aware of and comply with regulations in the following:
      • Health and Safety, legislation and enforcement
      • Accidents and ill health reporting
      • First Aid
      • Electricity
      • Work Equipment, mobile equipment and movement of people
      • COSHH, Manual Handling, Noise, Working at height
      • Maintenance
      • Portable tools (PAT testing)
      • RIDDOR
      • Fire & Explosion – (LPG)
      • Risk Assessments
    • Demonstrate how to carry out a basic Risk Assessment and to create a safe working area
    • Describe and demonstrate safe techniques for jacking and blocking
    • Describe and demonstrate securing mast and carriage assemblies
    • Describe how to isolate trucks safely prior commencing any work activities
