Must have successfully completed: “Working on High Voltage MHE”
This course will cover the relevant regulations and working practices to enable engineers to safely isolate, connect and disconnect a charger to an existing fixed installation supplied by the user relating to battery powered lift trucks.
The learner will be competent in the following:
- Electrical safety awareness and precautions
- Electrical safe isolation procedures
- Basic three-phase and single-phase wiring
- Use of earth protective conductors
- Cable sizing, overload and short circuit protection
- Correct cable types and their application
- Operation of an RCD and testing
- Common electrical terminology and symbols
- Basic wiring and operation of chargers
- Practical wiring and connection of chargers
- Interpret circuit wiring diagrams
- Testing and verifying the connection and the cable between the fixed installation and charger
Testing to include:
- Dead testing – verifying any new or existing cable, connections, or charger repairs are free from short circuits or earth faults prior being energised.
- Testing procedure to prove safe isolation before any work commences
- Testing procedures if live!
Knowledge assessment to be completed
Certificate of competence to be issued
Revalidation required every 5 years – ID card issued
