This Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course provides delegates with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to respond effectively to workplace incidents.

Designed with a focus on material handling environments, the training reflects the types of injuries and emergencies commonly encountered in roles involving lifting, moving, loading, and warehouse operations.

Course Aim

To provide delegates with the confidence and competence to deliver immediate first aid in workplace emergencies, particularly those arising from material handling activities.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

  • Respond effectively to workplace accidents and medical emergencies
  • Perform CPR and use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
  • Manage injuries commonly associated with manual handling tasks
  • Provide safe and appropriate care until professional help arrives
  • Assess incidents and take control of emergency situations

  1. Emergency Response Essentials
  • Roles and responsibilities of a first aider
  • Incident assessment and scene safety
  • Basic incident response procedures
  1. Life-Saving Skills
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
  • AED awareness and safe use
  • Managing unresponsive casualties
  1. Workplace Injury Management (Material Handling Focus)
  • Bleeding control (e.g. cuts from sharp edges or equipment)
  • Burns (e.g. friction burns, contact with machinery)
  • Choking (e.g. during breaks or onsite incidents)
  • Shock (following injury or trauma)
  • Minor injuries (e.g. strains, sprains, crush injuries, abrasions)

  • 1 Day Instructor-Led Training Programme

Certification
