Lift Truck Powershift Transmissions

The learner will gain a thorough understanding of Torque Converters and Fluid Flywheels covering the construction and operation of:

• fluid couplings
• fluid flywheels
• torque converters including torque multiplication and efficiency
• the benefits of fluid couplings
• the benefits of torque converter over fluid flywheel

The course will detail Powershift Transmissions covering the construction and operation of power shift transmissions to include:

• clutch packs
• gear arrangements
• shaft and bearing arrangements
• inching mechanisms
• linkages
• lubrication
• operations of epicyclic gears (sun, planet, annulus and carrier), method for achieving different gear ratios using epicyclic gearing;
• hydraulic components and operation;
• electronic control components and operation.
